Chapter 100 Buying Weapons and Armor
100 Buying Weapons and Armor
Wan choose a curved sword that was about 1.4 meters long and was created from a bone of a Bronze Core monster. The sword was flexible, although not as much as other swords that were created from metals, it was sturdier and its cutting power was above others.
Olman, on the other hand, chose a bow that was created from a tree that was about 120 years old. The black wood of the tree was very bendy and could allow Olman to shoot incredibly fast and powerful arrows. The bowstring was made out of the tendon of a Bronze Core monster and it was not easy to pull it, luckily Olman had gained a good increase in his strength stat after drinking the blood and he was able to use the bow quite proficiently.
He also needed a quiver and arrows. Since buying hundreds of arrows in order to use them, later on, was not that beneficial, the many craftsmen of the world of Corleon had come up with a genius idea, one that took them decades to finally realize.
The quivers that one could buy could actually take in mana from the surroundings and create arrows. The arrows would be completely made up of mana, and the better the quality of the quiver, the more powerful the arrows it created.
One could also pour his own mana into the quiver to create arrows immediately, and the way that archers fought suddenly changed. No longer did they need to worry about running out of arrows mid-fight and the only thing they had to keep an eye on was how much mana they had left.
Thanks to how the arrows were created, archers could also pour in more mana into them before launching them, leading to the arrow changing. One could make it faster, make it spin more, overflow it with mana so it would explode upon impact, and more.
Of course, that wasn't to say that nobody still bought arrows.
Those that were below the Bronze Knight realm would have to buy some as they couldn't spend a lot of their own mana to create arrows mid-fight.
Also, there were craftsmen that could create incredibly powerful arrows that would be miles above what the archers could gain from the quiver. Those were incredibly expensive, but high-leveled archers would always make sure to have a couple on them at all times in case they had to fight a powerful enemy.
Lyle also bought a good scabbard for Wan's sword. A lot of stores would create multiple scabbards for each type of sword they had which would have different benefits. Some scabbards would make sure the sword was in pristine condition and they even had a function to keep it as sharp as before.
Lyle had become somewhat of an enigma in the organization and all the higher-ranking members wanted to be on his good side and foster a relationship. Those that knew of his connection with Nicholas now had a better understanding of why a Shadow was backing him for so long and praised Nicholas's ability to foster such talent from early on.
Lyle left the store with the trio and made his way over to two jewelry stores. He didn't come to sell any of the gems or jewelry but was actually coming to check what his actions from last night had done.
Upon looking around and acting like a noble that wanted to buy some shiny things, Lyle was able to get some information from the store clerk. The stuff he had sold last night had not caused any large commotion in the city, but there were people that started talking about how some high-quality gems and jewelry had been sold to the stores.
He knew that he would have to be a bit careful and decided to wait one or two more days before selling any more things. He bought a golden ring before leaving the store so as not to draw any suspicion from the store clerk and made his way over to where the thugs lived.
Olman of course knew just how many people were in the organization he had created and who were those that were not in the mansion last night. It was relatively easy for Lyle and the others to get to the thugs and they spent the next couple of hours visiting their homes and getting rid of them.
Only two thugs remained after the trio had finished searching for them. They were not in their homes or any place they frequented, and Lyle could only come to the conclusion that they had hidden after finding out about what happened at the mansion, or had been captured by the guards of the Holad family.
Lyle hoped it would be the former, but it was doubtful that that was the case. He made his way over to where the mansion was, leaving Adam and the others three to start making plans with starting their own organization.
Upon passing next to the mansion, Lyle was unable to see anyone present. He had, however, noticed that some things were out of place and he managed to sense the presence of five men inside the mansion.
The guards had probably left the mansion after not being able to find anything in there, but they had left some men just in case somebody showed up.
Lyle was now perplexed. He didn't know if he should kidnap a guard and interrogate him. Finding out whether the guards had captured any thug was important, but that would also make them know that one of their own was gone and that it was probably done by the one behind the murder of the family.
