Chapter 498 : 497: Don't Belong To Anyone
"World Rune: Tempest Spiral."
Zal'Zerael raised its claw, and runes spun around his claw. It slammed its claw into the ground, and the runes erupted outward in a spiralling wave of energy.
The ground split apart and massive fissures spread across the battlefield as towering pillars of lightning shot upward, carving through the air with deafening cracks.
Pamela darted between the countless pillars of lightning, her movements were precise but frantic. The size, speed, and number of the pillars of lightning were too much for her, and if not for her mind's eye, sensitivity to mana, and her unique eyes, she would have died from the moment Zal'Zerael unleashed the skill.
However, despite the dangerous situation she was in, a smile could be seen on her face as she moved.
"I love this," She chuckled with a wide smile while spinning in the air as she narrowly dodged an extremely thick pillar of lightning.
'I was so disappointed when I fought against that old man. He had no knowledge of runes, and because of that he could not even react to some subtle things I did around him.'
'I thought my fight with Corey would be the one I'd enjoy the most because apart from his uniqueness, he also has some knowledge of runes.'
'But right now...'
"ZAL!..." Pamela shouted with her infinity-marked silver eyes gazing straight into Zal'Zerael's glowing white eyes as she twisted her body mid-air to dodge a pillar of lightning.
The draconic abomination's eyes flashed with anger and frustration when it heard Pamela's words and saw the wide smile on her lips.
"... I FUCKING LOVE THIS!"
"..."
Zal'Zerael was stunned, but Pamela did not say anything else.
Her silver eyes flickered with determination, and then she raised her hands.
Although Zal'Zerael took her by surprise when it took control of her runes and the runes of the world, how could she allow such a thing without fighting back.
She was a Rune Sage.
Her connection with the runes was so strong, so profound, so intricate, to the point that the runes felt like family to her.
For so long the runes had always been her domain, her art, and yet a creature in a mere shattered dimension was twisting them as if they were nothing more than tools in its claws.
How could she not be excited?!
Zal'Zerael's eyes burned with cold, unyielding light. "I told you, you have no chance against me in manipulating runes. Unlike you who was born a human, I was born with the runes... You are just a thief who was given the skill to manipulate the runes by the thing called the Universal System."
Pamela chuckled with a smile as she steadied herself, blood dripping from the corner of her mouth.
"Cute speech... But I'm not done yet."
She raised her hands, her infinity-marked silver eyes glowing brighter than ever. The runes around her flared to life, their whispers rising to a deafening roar.
If Zal'Zerael thought it could outmanoeuvre her, it had another thing coming.
"Let's see how you like this," Pamela muttered, her voice low and dangerous.
"Runic Cataclysm."
An array of runes so large they stretched across the entire battlefield, and even those in Stormhold City could see these runes.
Each rune pulsed with destructive energy, their light burning through the storm.
Zal'Zerael growled, its wings spreading wide as it prepared to counter. The runes of the world twisted around it, forming a counterarray to match Pamela's attack.
The storm paused, the battlefield caught in a moment of tense stillness. And then, with a deafening roar, the two forces collided.
Lightning roared through the air, splitting the heavens and tearing apart the ground.
Runes twisted and writhed, their form shifting between Pamela and Zal'Zerael's control. The draconic abomination's immense form loomed over the shattered terrain, its glowing eyes locked onto Pamela with a mixture of disdain and arrogance.
"You struggle in vain, Outsider," Zal'Zerael rumbled, its voice a thunderclap that resonated through the storm. "The runes are mine. You cannot hope to defeat me through them."
Pamela floated amidst the destruction, her clothes tattered, and her breasts and thighs were exposed with blood trailing from the corner of her mouth. Her infinity-marked silver eyes glowed faintly as she steadied her breathing. Despite her wounds, there was no fear in her expression... only a dangerous smile.
"Mine... yours... it doesn't matter," Pamela said softly, her voice carrying through the storm like a blade through silk. "Because the runes don't belong to anyone."
