Chapter 699 Out of Place Warmth
Chapter 699 Out of Place Warmth
699 Out of Place Warmth
Could it be? Morgan's thoughts raced. Artorius is actually... the Worthy!? The boy she had adopted as a war orphan and made into her servant? That Artorius!? What kind of qualities could he possibly possess?
It's Impossible!
She frowned, recalling how she had been the one to feed Artorius the answers during the Test of Wisdom. His success wasn't his own effort. It was hers! She had also enchanted and blessed his combat skills before the Test of Combat Prowess. There's no way this boy could have passed on his own! @@@@
She's panicking. This was supposed to be a harmless prank to humiliate Merlin, but it had spiraled far beyond that. If Merlin discovered that she had tampered with the test, he would hunt her down without mercy! Even in hell!
This is bad... very bad.
She shuddered as she thought about the Lake of Avalon. Witnessing its mana-rich and sacred energy-filled environment firsthand had left her awestruck. That place was unlike anything she had ever encountered. She knew that this Merlin guy who live in a place like this must be a real deal! Could it be... Merlin is some ancient hermit who survived the era of the gods? If that were true...
{Oh no!} Morgan's face paled as the weight of her blunder sank in. {What have I done!?}
"Boy! State your name," Daniel spoke, his voice full of power.
Artorius flinched, startled. He thought he might have done something wrong. However, when he noticed the faint smile on Daniel's face, he felt a sense of relief.
"Err... Ar... Artorius. My name is Artorius, sir wizard." The boy who's yet to be king said meekly.
Seeing Artorius's nervousness, Daniel chuckled softly. "There's no need to be nervous, my king. Henceforth, your name shall be known as Arthur Pendragon, the king who will serve as the foundation of Britain." Daniel's voice carried the weight and authority of a powerful wizard.
He then bowed his head toward Artorius, now known as Arthur Pendragon.
"My king, my knowledge, power, and wisdom shall be dedicated to your rule until my time in this world comes to an end," Daniel said solemnly, acting the role of a wise wizard who would guide and support Arthur from this moment onward.
Yes, acting, Daniel is not the real Merlin after all.
Even as he made this declaration, Daniel's mind drifted to the pressing challenge of unlocking the 'Cosmic War' set. A hundred thousand points for unlocking this set was an astronomical amount to gather in a short time, and he knew he would need to spend quite some time in this era.
Straightening his posture, Daniel glanced toward Envy, who was attempting to conceal herself beneath her hood like a mischief child who had caught her hand in a cookie jar.
Daniel wasn't sure what kind of mischief she was planning, but seeing her again like this, her playful personality still intact, ignited a warm feeling in his heart. She seemed unburdened by the crushing loneliness that he knew would weigh on her in the future.
With Envy here, he was certain that he wouldn't feel lonely no matter how long he had to remain in this era.
After that, Daniel released a swarm of metallic scarabs from his robe. The tiny creatures scurried out to construct shelters for all the visitors. The sight of the scarabs working in perfect unison, systematically building the shelters, left the crowd stunned.
The scarabs moved like a well-coordinated machine, creating shelters from the ground up. Although the materials appeared to be metal, they were smooth and pleasant to the touch. The shelters were designed to be harmonious with nature, causing minimal damage to the woodland. The structures were built alongside the trees, resembling rows of elegant treehouses. The sheer efficiency and beauty of the process left the visitors exclaiming in awe.
Each guest was led to a shelter with a dining area and several bedrooms. The remarkable craftsmanship and thoughtfulness of the design impressed everyone.
Daniel then approached Arthur. "My King, please follow me. I won't allow you to stay with the other visitors. Your safety must come first. Please stay in my tower. There's more than enough room to accommodate someone of your status," Daniel said with a smile, fully embracing his role as Merlin, the Great Wizard.
"Err... Mr. Merlin, can my sister stay in the tower, too?" Arthur asked timidly, his voice still meek despite his newfound status.
"Of course, My King. Where is your sister? I'll ensure she receives the utmost service my servants can provide," Daniel replied with a warm smile, already suspecting who Arthur's sister might be.
With Merlin's permission, Arthur beamed with joy. He ran off toward where his sister was.
"Sister! Sister Morgan!" Young Arthur called, pulling his sister by the hand as he led her toward Daniel. "Did you hear that? You can stay the night in the tower! I can't wait to explore it," Arthur said excitedly.
The woman Arthur referred to as his sister, a purple-haired, goddess-like figure in a hooded robe, offered a wry smile. She hadn't expected this "Merlin" to host all the guests for the night. In fact, she had thought he would dismiss everyone once the trial had ended.
"I am Merlin of the Lake of Avalon. May I know your esteemed name, Your Highness?" Daniel asked with a polite smile.
"Your Highness?" Envy looked confused.
"Of course. As the older sister of the King, it's only fitting that I address you as 'Your Highness,'" Daniel replied with the same polite smile.
"Oh, I see... Err..." Envy gave a wry smile but quickly composed herself. "I'm Morgan. Morgan le Fay," she introduced herself.
Daniel's smile widened. His smile radiated warmth and care, which took Morgan by surprise. The kind expression seemed oddly out of place, given that they had just met. Yet, this 'out of place' fondness radiating from this smile reddened her cheeks.
{So... in this era, her name is Morgan le Fay, huh? Perhaps the concept of the seven deadly sins hasn't been established yet,} Daniel mused to himself.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Your Highness Morgan le Fay. Come, I'll introduce you both to my tower," Daniel said with a smile, leading Arthur and Morgan toward the tower built near the lake.
Daniel began introducing his tower, starting from the ground up. He showed them the cellar, where he stored food, followed by the workshop, where he conducted experiments and created golems and artifacts. Next was the library, and finally, the living area, which had several guest rooms.
"My King, Your Highness, you may explore anywhere in this tower except for my workshop," Daniel explained warmly. "It's dangerous, as I've set many traps inside to deter thieves. However, please let me know if you need anything from the workshop, and I'll retrieve it for you."
