Chapter 80: An age old plot

Before reading this chapter here are a few things you should know. The system does not and will not have a personality. Im trying to do something here, thanks. Everything will revert soon..

Ding

All Spectral grade treasures have the ability to merge and create more powerful treasures

]

At their level, treasures with spirits in them needed to consume other treasures to increase in strength. No blacksmith could remold them to become more powerful, this was the only way.

It wanted to consume Badur’s Gate, and it wasn’t even hiding it at all.

"You realize how that sounds, right?" Leon asked the system. It sounded as if it wanted to swallow badurs gate or something.

[Ding!!

Merging is solely the hosts decision, but the system advices that this is the best course of action.

]

The system responded logically, it didn’t have any emotions, it was but an autonomous AI, the only thing it knew was to merge and become stronger to be more helpful to its host.

"Hmmm," Leon mused, the system kept using the word ’merge’ when all it really wanted to do was consume Badur’s gates.

"Why not? You know what? Let’s head down to meet the autonomous Ai of Badur’s Gate...." Leon said with a smile that was not a smile, but the system didn’t understand this, Leon had agreed for them to merge, that was all that mattered.

A few seconds later, it formed into a ball and floater right beside Leon. Leon smiled and grabbed it before pulling it out of the air and placing it in his other hand.

He then slowly proceeded to walk out of the pagoda and towards the pit in the middle of badurs gate.

"Underground level" Leon spoke out, and almost immediately a platform appeared before him. Leon stepped on it causally, and before he knew it, it started descending.

Badurs gate was actually a mountain. Leon was usually at the top, but it had several levels in which Leon performed a variety of activities....like keeping prisoners.

For example, Anan, who everyone thought to be dead, was actually imprisoned in here. Leon didn’t take his life, at least not yet.

—Dang!!!

After about 30 minutes of descending, the platform stopped moving. They had gotten to their destination.

It was a dark expanse, that even Leon couldn’t see through. The blackness was akin to a void expanse. While walking through, one would barely be able to see what was In front of them, talkless of seeing far ahead.

"Hehe, I haven’t been down here for a long time" Leon said with a cold smile. Any sane person would feel some sort of fear of this kind of emptiness. But Leon had been trapped in the void for about a thousand years. This place didn’t shake him one bit.

After a few more minutes of walking, Leon abruptly stopped. In the middle of the darkness.

"SCALDORN!!!" Leon shouted at the top of his voice....

It echoed through the darkness causing a small reverberation that went on for about 30 good seconds....but as soon as it stopped, an earthquake followed.

—Boom!!!

—Dannnn!!!

—grumble!!!

It shook the entire space, if this were in the real world it would cause mass hysteria. Especially because this was not some random movement, it was rhythmical as If something walk moving towards them.

Searching backlogs...

Searching corelogs....

Ding found!!!!

]

The system announced. It was but a computer, it didn’t even hide that they were secret instructions after searching for them.

Leon looked at this plan and shook his head. It was labelled.

Call of the primogenitor

This protocol entailed details on how the system would systematically use Leon to elevate the status of the warlocks in the region....following which the primogenitor would try to bring himself back using various methods.

Actually, this plan didn’t put Leon at a disadvantage nor did it seek to harm him. Even the plan to bring back the primogenitor was to find a suited member of the warlocks for his return, this didn’t necessarily mean Leon.

However, this changed nothing. The seed of distrust had been planted...there was no way Leon would go ahead with this plan. He had his own goals to accomplish.

"I can remove the backlog commands and restart the system if you want" While Leon was contemplating his next steps, Scaldorn jumped in while seemingly resting on the ground.

He was more powerful than the pagoda’s system. And could definitely override the commands...since the person who put it, there had given Leon’s administrative rights, this would be a walk in the park.

"No, that’s not enough...." Leon said causing the atmosphere to become tense.....what did he mean? the system wasn’t consciously trying to harm him, there was no reason for any drastic measures. This matter could Be solved effortlessly.

Of course, Leon’s thought was much deeper than Scaldorn. Scaldorn was an over grown baby with the wisdom of Solomon in his eyes. He didn’t know how the world truly worked.

"Devour it" Leon commanded, following which he paused, then he continued. "Take all its functionalities, its ability to act on its own, but leave its consciousness, that is still useful to me"

Leon was going to strip it of every and any power it had, it would only be able to perform functions with the permission of Scaldorn and all its activities would be monitored.

Actually, Leon believed Scaldorns suggestion was good, but he needed an extra layer of protection. He wanted to make sure that the system’s functionalities would never be used against him.

"As you wish" Scaldorn obeyed and let out an earpeircing Roar.

—Roar!!!!!!!!

At the top of Badur’s Gate where the pagoda stood. The chains around the pagoda began loosening, allowing it to fall to the ground.

What followed was the pagoda increasing 10x in size and beginning stretch out of badurs gate.

"You must be joking!!!" Scaldorn’s voice reverberated followed by a steam of light coming out from the middle of badurs gate’s pit, forcing the pagoda to shrink back a little.

This was its defense protocol, in the absence of the pagoda spirit it would try to run away. Or defend itself long enough for it to come back.

Sadly, it wasn’t coming back. It was stuck in the stomach of badurs gate.

—Boom

—Boom

—Boom

Every attempt by the pagoda to fight back was met with massive resistance. Badur’s gates kept hitting it harder and harder until the pagoda’s defense crumbled.

It defense protocol had failed.

The pagoda spirit could only watch from the distance as the pagoda was slowly devoured....
