Chapter 236 : Become a Better Master
Chapter 236 : Become a Better Master
Shanie was leaning against the fence, crouched by the roadside with a cloth bag at her feet, stuffed full of things that faintly gave off the aroma of food."Are you finished chatting with the teacher?"
Seeing Celitia appear, Shanie picked up the cloth bag and happily stood up.
"I bought back all the snacks the teacher likes. Shall we sit together again and eat something?"
Celitia hesitated for a moment, but finally asked: "Aren't you curious at all about what I talked about with tea... Mr. Erwin?"
"Of course I'm curious," Shanie said with a smile. "If there's any part you're willing to tell me, I'll listen attentively!"
Shanie's response was so straightforward that it left Celitia somewhat at a loss: "You know he was deliberately sending you away?"
"Yes!" Shanie nodded.
Celitia asked: "You don't mind?"
"There's nothing to mind," Shanie said with a bright smile. "Teacher has teacher's secrets, Lily has Lily's secrets, and I have my secrets. This is perfectly normal. For me, teacher is still teacher, and Lily is still Lily. That won't change because of your respective secrets. Besides, if two people important to me can get along well with each other, I'll be even happier!"
Celitia looked at her silently.
Perhaps among the several of them, the person who lived most open-mindedly was Shanie.
It was somewhat... enviable.
"Let's go," Celitia stopped dwelling on it and extended her hand to Shanie. "Let's go back first."
When the two returned to the house, Erwin was sitting in the wicker chair, bathed in warm sunlight from the window, eyes slightly closed, looking like he was about to fall asleep.
"Teacher, do you still want the snacks?" Shanie asked.
"Put them on the table. I'll eat them when I wake up." Erwin waved his hand lazily. "I'm sleepy and want to nap for a while. You two go play somewhere else."
"Oh..." Shanie obediently put down the cloth bag. "Then we won't disturb you."
"Oh, right."
Erwin suddenly opened his eyes and pointed toward the bedroom. "That cloth bundle on the table inside—Shanie, you take it."
"Is it a gift from teacher for me?" Shanie asked excitedly. "What's inside?"
"Your tea... Celitia knows. Ask her."
Without explaining further, Erwin closed his eyes again. His breathing gradually became steady, and before long, thunderous snoring started up again.
"What is it?" Shanie looked at Celitia.
Celitia smiled: "Go look directly."
Walking into the bedroom to the wooden table, Celitia unwrapped the cloth layer by layer, revealing the sword to Shanie.
"Wow, it's a longsword! So beautiful!" Shanie's eyes sparkled. "Is this a gift teacher brought back for me from his trip?"
Shanie couldn't wait to pick up the sword, examining it carefully for a while, then with a "zing," drew the blade from its sheath.
"Such a beautiful sword! Every part of it is in perfect condition. Its previous owner must have cherished it greatly!"
Shanie was extremely excited. If not for being indoors, she probably would have started sword dancing for Celitia to see.
"Then continue to cherish it," Celitia smiled. "You'll definitely become a good master."
Shanie sheathed the blade, wrapped it in cloth again, and carefully held it.
"Were you talking about this sword earlier?"
Shanie remembered that when she had burst in, the two had been standing around the table, seemingly looking at this sword.
Celitia answered casually: "Mm, more or less."
"No wonder teacher told me to ask you. So, do you know what it's called, and who the previous owner was? Does it have something to do with teacher?" Shanie fired off questions like a machine gun.
"Its original name was 'Flowing Light.' If you don't like it, changing it doesn't matter." Celitia answered flatly. "As for the previous owner, that's all in the past and not worth mentioning."
"Really..."
Seeing Celitia unwilling to say more, Shanie was a bit disappointed. "But looking at 'Flowing Light,' I always feel that its previous owner must have been a very impressive hero."
"A hero... perhaps not quite," Celitia lowered her eyes slightly. "But to Mr. Erwin, it was quite an important person. Mr. Erwin entrusted this sword to you because he must hope you'll wield it and become stronger than the previous owner."
"Someone important to teacher, but you won't even tell me the name? So stingy!"
Shanie chattered away. "Fine, I'll bring some good wine later to pry open teacher's mouth and make him tell me stories!"
Celitia just smiled.
Shanie would definitely become a better master than herself.
Past glory had already faded, but the torch of inheritance would never be extinguished.
Celitia believed this firmly.
Leaving Erwin's residence, the two returned to Shanie's home.
Shanie was first to walk through the door, with Celitia following half a step behind.
Suddenly, a certain white furball jumped up from the nearby bushes, leaping onto Celitia's shoulder in one bound.
Long rabbit ears brushed past Celitia's chin, somewhat ticklish.
"Annie, you're back?"
Celitia carefully picked up the rabbit from her shoulder, cradling it in her hands.
Just as Annie was about to speak, Shanie suddenly turned around:
"Lily, what's wrong? Aren't you coming in?"
"You go in first. I still have something to take care of—I'll be back in a moment," Celitia replied.
Holding Annie in both hands, Celitia left the doorway and went around to the other side by the wall.
"Looking at how you can barely hold it in, just say whatever you need to say directly."
Annie couldn't wait to speak:
"Boss, listen to me! I had a super scary nightmare—I dreamed of that red-haired woman who brought people to catch me! It scared me to death! When I opened my eyes, I saw her and nearly got caught. Good thing I ran fast!"
Speaking of this, Annie used her short front paws to scratch her head, extremely puzzled.
"But when I woke up, how did I end up falling into a water ditch? I clearly remember climbing next to your pillow before sleeping!"
Celitia suppressed her laughter: "Because that wasn't a dream."
"What, not a dream?" Annie's fur stood on end. "So that red-haired woman came and wants to catch me??"
"She's not here to catch you—don't scare yourself."
Celitia soothingly stroked the rabbit's long fur.
"Her name is Ariel, and she's originally my companion. You be honest and don't play pranks, and especially don't provoke her. As long as Ariel can't discover your true identity, she won't catch you."
"Oh right, I almost forgot she's boss's companion." Annie thought for a long time. "You two seemed to be acting out some kind of plot in the dream back then? I don't really remember..."
Celitia's mouth twitched slightly.
Please don't try to remember that kind of strange dream!
