Chapter 612 - 573: Bomb Catapult Slingshot
Chapter 612 - 573: Bomb Catapult Slingshot
Just when everyone was dismissing the slingshot and the steel balls in Zhao Rong’s hands, he immediately gave a demonstration.
"There’s something you don’t know," he said. "This isn’t an ordinary slingshot. Its technical name is the Bomb-Launching Slingshot. And these aren’t ordinary steel balls, let alone glass marbles; they are a type of Miniature Bomb."
When the assistant and the three women heard that the slingshot was called a Bomb-Launching Slingshot and that the projectiles on the ground were actually Miniature Bombs, they were all stunned into silence.
The assistant looked at Zhao Rong and asked, "Zhao Rong, if you launch those Miniature Bombs with this, will they actually explode?"
Zhao Rong nodded. Holding the slingshot in one hand, he loaded a Miniature Bomb with the other, preparing to fire. "The proof is in the pudding," he said. "Once I launch one of these, you’ll understand its power."
Lili, her eyes wide with anticipation, asked, "Zhao Rong, can these Miniature Bombs really kill those Black Widow spiders in the distance? They’re bigger than tanks!"
Before Lili could even finish her sentence, Zhao Rong fired.
To everyone’s shock, the slingshot launched the projectile with extraordinary speed, nearly as fast as the speed of light. The Miniature Bomb shot out and struck one of the distant Black Widow spiders with pinpoint accuracy. The moment it hit, there was an explosion. The bomb, which had looked like a simple black steel ball, blew the massive creature apart.
Although Zhao Rong had already left the Black Widow critically wounded, he didn’t stop. He continued to launch several more Miniature Bombs, embedding them deep within the spider’s mangled body.
What followed was an astonishing scene. A tremendous boom echoed through the area, and a mushroom cloud rose into the sky. The giant Black Widow spider was completely obliterated, vanishing before the eyes of Zhao Rong’s party of five.
When the assistant and the three women saw that Zhao Rong had annihilated a spider larger than a tank with nothing but a simple slingshot, they all looked at him with pure admiration.
The assistant was the first to speak, his voice full of awe. "Zhao Rong, I never would have believed it. You killed a mutated monster with just a simple slingshot. That’s incredible!"
Lili gave him a thumbs-up. "Brother Zhao Rong, you don’t act often, but when you do, you make the earth tremble and your enemies howl in terror!"
"Big Brother," Yu Lan praised, "you have no idea how cool you looked firing that slingshot. The pose was so charismatic; it was enough to sweep all of us off our feet."
Xuelian gazed at him dreamily. "Big Brother, every move you make exudes such masculine charm. So commanding, yet so gentle. It’s enough to make any woman fall head over heels for you."
Listening to their praise, Zhao Rong walked humbly toward the ashes of the spider. "You’re all too kind. I don’t really have any special skills myself. It’s just that the weapons from the Paradise Shopping Cart are quite remarkable, that’s all."
However, before Zhao Rong could reach the creature’s remains, Lili pointed to the sky with a panicked expression. "Zhao Rong, look out! There’s a swarm of bees above you! They’ll use their Wind Stingers to kill you!"
Yu Lan nudged Lili, pointing at the enormous, terrifying insects buzzing overhead. "Lili, look closer! Those are no ordinary bees! They’re killer bees, the kind that can actually kill people!"
Hearing the term "killer bees," Xuelian recalled something she had once read in a book. "Originally, killer bees didn’t exist in this world, only American hornets. But some scientists, for an experiment, crossbred American hornets with giant hornets and then genetically programmed the offspring. That’s how these terrifying killer bees were created."
As Xuelian finished her description, the assistant sucked in a sharp breath. He quickly snatched a large leaf from the ground, rushed over to Zhao Rong, and tried to cover his head with it. Staring at the flying monstrosities, he said in a terrified voice, "Big Brother, if they’re genetically programmed monsters, we have to run! If we stay here, they’ll definitely sting us to death!"
Before the assistant could finish his sentence, the swarm of killer bees launched their attack. The bees were massive, their stingers as long and sharp as bayonets.
When one of the killer bees dove toward him with its tail whipping through the air, Zhao Rong immediately drew his Damo Sword. He swung it in a defensive arc, shouting, "Come on, you killer bees! Come and let me wipe you all out with this Damo Sword!"
He brandished the sword with blinding speed, creating a barrier of steel to block the bees’ relentless assault.
The assistant, scared out of his wits, scrambled to hide behind Zhao Rong, bawling, "Everyone has to die someday, but I don’t want to die from a bee sting! If I die and everyone finds out a bee killed me, I’ll be a laughingstock! Zhao Rong, you have to protect me!"
Just then, the three women saw another group of killer bees heading straight for them.
"Yu Lan, Xuelian, over here!" Lili shouted, having found a hollow in a large tree. "Hide in here with me! They’ll never find us!"
Yu Lan, meanwhile, had covered herself in a thick pile of leaves. "Lili! Xuelian! Come here and camouflage yourselves with leaves like me! They won’t see us!"
But Xuelian had found an even better spot. She had located a burrow in the ground, squeezed inside, and pulled some brush over the entrance. "Lili, Yu Lan, your hiding spots aren’t good enough! They’ll find you easily! It’s safest to hide in a burrow like this!"
Hearing her, Lili and Yu Lan immediately abandoned their own spots and jumped into the burrow with Xuelian. Together, the three women huddled inside, blocking the entrance to conceal themselves.
Just as they were starting to believe they were perfectly hidden, convinced the killer bees would never find them, they heard a buzzing sound directly above. It was the unmistakable drone of the killer bees.
