Chapter 483 Draco’s Obsession
Chapter 483 Draco’s Obsession
Liam stood there quietly for a few seconds after Lana fell asleep.
The room had gone calm now, the kind of calm that only came after hours of stress and nonstop movement. The faint glow from the bedside lamp stretched softly across the luxurious room, casting warm shadows over the bed where Lana lay curled slightly beneath the blanket.
She really fell asleep fast.
Liam looked at her face carefully and the corner of his lips lifted faintly.
"She must be exhausted," he murmured under his breath.
Just a few minutes ago she had still been forcing herself to stay awake, insisting she could keep helping him, keep searching through files and records and old documents about Cain. Yet the moment her body touched the bed, sleep took her instantly.
That alone told him how tired she really was.
Slowly he walked closer to the bed again.
For a moment he just stood there staring at her.
Sleeping Lana looked different.
Softer.
Peaceful.
Her long dark hair spread lightly across the pillow and some loose strands rested against her cheek. Her breathing was slow and steady now, her body finally relaxed after carrying tension for so long.
Liam reached down gently and brushed those loose strands away from her face.
Then he leaned down slightly and kissed her forehead.
Soft.
Warm.
Lingering for a second longer than he intended.
After pulling away he stared at her one last time before finally turning toward the door.
The moment he stepped outside the room and closed the door quietly behind him, he noticed someone standing a few steps away in the hallway.
Danill.
The young man immediately straightened the moment he saw Liam.
Liam raised a brow slightly.
"Why are you here?"
Danill scratched the back of his head awkwardly before letting out a small laugh.
"I uh... actually came to thank you properly."
Liam instantly understood what he meant.
Earlier that day he had transferred one million dollars to him without much thought. To Liam it was just money. Something easy to replace. But clearly for Danill it meant much more than that.
Liam walked closer and patted his shoulder casually.
"It’s alright."
But Danill shook his head immediately.
"No," he said seriously. "It’s not alright."
His expression changed slightly as he looked down at the floor for a second before speaking again.
"Because of you... my mum is finally getting the heart surgery she needs."
His voice dropped lower near the end.
There was genuine emotion there.
"Words can’t even describe how much I appreciate what you did for me."
Liam looked at him quietly for a moment.
Danill was trying hard not to get emotional but it was obvious this meant everything to him. His eyes carried that look people had when they finally stopped drowning after struggling for too long.
Liam smiled faintly.
"Well," he said calmly, "I need your help too."
The moment those words left his mouth Danill straightened instantly.
"Anything you want."
He didn’t even let Liam finish before answering.
The speed of it made Liam chuckle slightly.
"You don’t even know what I’m asking yet."
"I don’t care," Danill replied honestly. "If it’s something I can do then I’ll do it."
Liam nodded slowly.
"You’re good with computers right?"
Danill blinked once before nodding quickly.
"Yeah."
Liam leaned lightly against the wall now as his expression became more thoughtful.
"I need you to dig up information on someone."
Danill’s brows raised slightly.
"What kind of information?"
Liam looked ahead for a second before answering.
"I want to know about Tatiana’s past."
That immediately caught Danill off guard.
His eyebrows lifted higher this time.
Tatiana?
Out of everyone he expected Liam to mention, she was probably near the bottom of the list.
It was strange.
Very strange.
But Danill was smart enough not to ask unnecessary questions. If Liam wanted information on her then there was clearly a reason.
He simply nodded.
"I’ll get to it right away."
Then without wasting another second he turned around and started walking away quickly down the hallway.
No.
Not walking.
Almost dancing.
His movements were so weirdly energetic that Liam couldn’t help the small chuckle that escaped him.
The guy really was in a ridiculously good mood.
Liam shook his head lightly before his expression slowly changed again.
Then suddenly something clicked in his mind.
Anya.
His eyes widened slightly.
He had completely forgotten about her again.
"Shit."
Without wasting time Liam turned around and immediately headed back toward the room where he had left her earlier.
A few moments later he pushed the door open.
Sure enough she was still there.
Anya sat quietly near the side of the room with her phone in hand. The moment she heard the door open and saw Liam enter, she quickly put the phone away and stood up immediately.
Almost too quickly.
Like she was afraid of doing something wrong.
Liam noticed that instantly.
His eyes stayed on her for a second before he finally spoke.
"Where do you live? I’ll take you there right now."
The moment those words left his mouth something changed in her face.
Fear.
Real fear.
It flashed through her eyes so suddenly and so clearly that Liam noticed it immediately.
Anya looked down briefly before tightening her fingers together nervously.
"I..."
Her voice hesitated.
Then she looked back at him again.
"I know Draco," she said quietly. "He’ll go back there looking for me."
Liam frowned slightly.
"He won’t stop for a while."
The fear in her voice wasn’t fake.
It sounded like someone who already knew exactly how things would go.
Liam folded his arms slowly.
"Hasn’t your debt been paid already?"
Anya nodded immediately.
"Yes."
"Then what’s the problem?"
She looked away again for a moment before answering.
"I paid everything," she said softly. "But Draco..."
Her expression tightened.
"He’s obsessed with me."
Liam’s brows furrowed slightly deeper.
Anya swallowed softly before continuing.
"I know him. He won’t stop looking for me until he finds me."
The room went quiet for a moment after that.
Liam studied her face carefully now.
Earlier she had looked relieved after paying her debt. Like someone finally freed from chains after years of suffering.
But now that fear had returned again.
Not fear of money.
Fear of a person.
That changed things.
Liam walked slowly toward the window of the room and looked outside briefly at the mansion grounds below. Wolves moved around everywhere preparing for the operation ahead. Cars. Weapons. Movement. Constant activity.
Then he looked back at her.
"So what are you planning to do?"
Anya laughed softly but there was no happiness in it.
"I honestly don’t know."
That answer sounded painfully genuine.
She looked exhausted now.
Not physically.
Mentally.
Like someone who had spent too many years surviving without ever actually living.
"My apartment isn’t safe anymore," she admitted quietly. "And I don’t really have anyone else."
Liam stayed silent.
Anya quickly lowered her head slightly after saying that, almost embarrassed by how pathetic it sounded aloud.
"I’m sorry," she said quickly. "I know this isn’t your problem anymore. You already helped me enough."
Liam looked at her quietly again.
She really believed that.
That once the debt was paid everything between them was over.
Normally she would’ve been right.
But Draco was connected to the Shadow Lounge.
And the Shadow Lounge was connected to bigger things now.
Including Cain.
Including the bombs.
Including whatever nightmare was unfolding around the city.
Which meant this was no longer just her problem.
Liam exhaled slowly through his nose.
Then finally he spoke.
"You’ll stay here for now."
Anya blinked.
"What?"
"This mansion is safer than anywhere else right now," Liam said calmly. "Nobody will touch you here."
Her eyes widened slightly.
"You mean... stay here?"
"For now," Liam repeated.
Anya stared at him quietly.
Then her eyes lowered again and she gripped her fingers tighter together.
"You keep helping me," she whispered almost to herself.
Liam shrugged lightly.
"You’re useful."
Anya looked back up immediately.
"Huh?"
"You’re a doctor," he said casually. "And right now I’m surrounded by violent idiots who keep getting injured."
That finally made a small laugh escape her.
A real one this time.
Soft.
Natural.
Liam noticed the way her face changed when she laughed.
It made her look lighter somehow.
Less broken.
For a brief second neither of them spoke again.
Then Liam suddenly narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Wait."
Anya blinked.
"What?"
"You said Draco is obsessed with you."
Her expression instantly became awkward.
Liam stared at her calmly.
"What exactly did you do to make someone like that obsessed?"
