Chapter 26 Branch 2
Chapter 26 Branch 2
Landric looked up and saw Severus looking at him gently.
Landric nodded slightly to Snape, but still secretly diverted some of his attention to Dumbledore.
Unsurprisingly, a glint was gleaming beneath his crescent-shaped glasses, as if he were deep in thought.
Severus had no intention of revealing Landric's identity. A half-blood father, even if he was the head of Slytherin, but was Voldemort really dead?
Severus dared not gamble; he did not want his children to be involved in the power struggle between Dumbledore and Voldemort.
He gazed at the beautiful child standing below, his precious treasure. The thought of Landric's frail body pained him. If only he hadn't been so consumed by grief over Lily's death that he didn't even want Landric...
Landric felt Snape's gaze shift from gentle to sorrow. He could guess Snape's thoughts, but he still didn't quite understand.
The Sorting Ceremony continued, and Landric finally got to see Draco enter the arena. Without a doubt, "Slytherin!"
The Sorting Hat barely touched Draco's scalp before it immediately shouted.
Landric's lips twitched. Was he really worthy of being a Malfoy?
Landric stood in line, watching Draco lower his hat and walk regally toward Slytherin, his eyes filled with undisguised excitement.
The Slytherins were the most astute at judging situations, and someone immediately made way for Draco.
After Draco sat down, he turned his gaze to Landric.
Landric calmly nodded to Draco, a faint smile appearing on his face.
He only ended his eye contact with Draco when he heard "Landrico Rozier" called from above. Under the watchful eyes of thousands of students from four houses, he slowly walked up, revealing his exquisite features that had been hidden from everyone below, causing a murmur of whispers.
"Is this really a boy?"
"It's so beautiful!"
"If nothing unexpected happens, the Slytherin girl will be our school's most beautiful girl this year!" The Weasley twins' mischievous voices rang out. They had just seen this child getting close to the proud platinum peacock from the Malfoy family, and someone who could get close to the Malfoys was highly likely to be admitted to Slytherin.
As it turned out, the Weasley twins were right; the Sorting Hat loudly proclaimed "Slytherin!"
A round of applause erupted from Slytherin, and the seat next to Draco became vacant. Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Landric gracefully took his seat in the Slytherin classroom, looked up at the teachers' table, and smiled at the Headmaster.
Severus returned the gaze with equal gentleness. Slytherin weren't fools; once someone noticed, they would naturally have some thoughts in their minds.
"See, George, I told you that little beauty belonged to Slytherin."
"Get out of my way, George. I'm Fred, and I guessed right first."
The Weasley twins, arms around each other's necks, loudly argued about who was Fred.
Landric had drawn the attention of some people in the academy. He didn't really want everyone's attention to be on him, but as far as he was concerned, that was impossible at the moment.
He could only focus his attention on the upcoming Sorting Ceremony. Draco secretly nudged Landric's hand from below.
Harry Potter
"Is it Harry Potter? It really is Harry Potter!"
In an instant, everyone's attention was once again focused on the stage, turning to the savior. Landric secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thanking the savior for drawing away the excessive attention from him.
The lobby was filled with constant chatter, all revolving around Harry Potter.
The Slytherins were doing better; some people were whispering among themselves, but they kept their voices down.
Harry Potter sat on the stool, his eyes unconsciously glancing towards Slytherin, as if searching for someone.
He was talking to the Sorting Hat, and for a moment he wanted to go to Slytherin.
"Oh, child, Slytherin, that's not for you. You belong to—"
"Gryffindor!" the Sorting Hat shouted.
Landric looked at the stage, not too surprised. How could Dumbledore's chosen pawn be allowed to enter Slytherin?
The fate of a piece is always decided by the player who moves the piece…
After the Sorting Ceremony, Dumbledore said some seemingly ambiguous things, which Landric felt were less like admonition and more like guidance to the energetic Gryffindors.
The fourth floor...
Landric followed the prefect and was led to the basement. He stood in front of a damp stone wall and recited the password, which opened the hidden stone door.
The password, as always, is in line with Slytherin's style: "Pureblood".
Landric had always known that there was a Prefects' Challenge within Slytherin, but he didn't expect that there was one for the first-year students as well.
After watching the senior students' challenge match, he roughly understood the rules of the competition.
Slytherin, where power reigns supreme, is a place where every Slytherin is inevitably driven by the pursuit of power.
Landric was determined to get the position of prefect, a confidence born from his extremely strong magical talent and learning ability.
After several encounters, his strength became clear to everyone, not to mention that he had Malfoy by his side protecting him.
What's meant to be his will be his.
Draco was delighted to have been appointed prefect along with his brother Rand, since in his eyes, Rand's position was his as well, as they had grown up together since childhood.
The eyes hidden in the shadows relaxed when they saw that Landric was unharmed and had successfully taken the position of prefect. With a hint of pride and joy, they turned and went back to their office.
Landric looked thoughtfully at the spot where someone had just been hiding...
