Chapter 385 - 378: Lest Seth Be Burdened with Guilt for Nothing

Meanwhile, in the Quinn family’s grand hall, Sienna Hale was still clutching Seth Quinn tightly, as if afraid that he would run out and chase after Clara Grant the moment she let go.

Theodore Quinn glanced at her hand and said with a hint of resignation, "Alright, Sienna. He’s not going to run off."

But Sienna Hale didn’t believe him. "What if he does?"

"If he really wanted to leave, you wouldn’t have been able to stop him," Theodore said. He knew his son all too well. When Seth set his mind on something, no one could stop him. And if he didn’t want to do something, no amount of persuasion would work.

Sienna Hale looked at her son, confused. "So you didn’t actually intend to go after Clara Grant just now?"

"Mom, I really was going to go after her," Seth said frankly. "But when you stopped me, I decided against it."

"So, you’ve really decided to give up on her?" Sienna Hale asked, a hopeful note in her voice.

But Seth’s reply was like a splash of cold water. "No. I’m not going after her because I want her to cool down first. I need to cool down too. If neither of us is calm, we’ll just end up arguing even if I do catch her, and we’ll part on bad terms."

"You!" Sienna shook him. "Seth, have you lost your mind? A woman like her... why haven’t you broken up with her already? What are you waiting for, Christmas?"

Seth’s expression soured. He said sternly, "Mom, watch your words. What ’kind of woman’ is Clara?"

Helpless, Sienna Hale turned to Theodore Quinn for backup. "Theodore, look at him!"

"It’s good that you’re both taking time to cool down." Theodore ignored her and spoke directly to Seth. "Seth, what’s your take on what happened today?"

Seth mulled it over for a moment before speaking. "The story is probably true. Judging by Clara’s reaction, she must have known for a while. But it’s hard to say if Chloe Grant was acting on Cedric Grant’s orders."

"Since Cedric Grant went to great lengths to hide the fact that Clara isn’t his biological daughter, keeping it from outsiders, he was probably afraid of losing face.

"So why would he suddenly choose to reveal it to us now? To win more of the Quinn family’s trust and get more business support for the Grant Family?

"Cedric Grant is a shrewd man. He must have calculated that if Clara and I married, he’d be my father-in-law, and the Grant and Quinn families would be joined by marriage. Wouldn’t our families be closer then? And wouldn’t he stand to gain far more from that?

"Why would he expose Clara’s background, lose face, and miss out on the biggest prize!

"As for why Chloe Grant did it, that’s still unclear."

Theodore Quinn nodded, motioning for him to continue. "Go on."

Seth continued, "Then there’s Autumn Shelby. Her appearance felt a bit too sudden. Plus, she arrived at the exact same time as Chloe Grant... I’m not ready to say she’s completely innocent and wasn’t in on it with Chloe."

Sienna Hale looked shocked, staring at Seth in disbelief. "Seth, what are you talking about? Autumn has finally made it through her ordeal and came all this way to see you. How can you accuse her of conspiring with Chloe Grant?"

Theodore’s gaze flickered from Sienna to Seth. After a moment’s thought, he said, "Go ahead and have someone investigate Autumn Shelby."

Seth nodded. "I will."

Sienna was speechless. She glared at her husband. "Theodore, you don’t suspect Autumn too, do you?"

"With something like this, it’s better to have all the facts. We don’t want Seth carrying a burden of guilt for no reason."

Sienna fell silent. After a long moment, she said, "Then... what about Clara Grant? Shouldn’t Seth be filing for divorce immediately?"

Hearing this, Seth’s expression turned stern again. "Mom, I thought I made myself perfectly clear earlier."

Sienna stammered for a moment but couldn’t come up with a response. She could only look to Theodore, silently pleading for his help.
