Chapter 202 - 202
Chapter 202 - 202
Beneath the mask, Obito regarded Sasuke with a grave expression. He didn't know when this unfamiliar clansman had appeared. But those eyes demanded he take the situation seriously. Yet just as he went on full alert, Sasuke's voice sounded from right behind him. His hands and feet went ice-cold, and a chill shot straight to the top of his head. He tried to activate Kamui to dodge instantly, but his body stiffened.
'Self-Cursing Seal!'
Although Sasuke's Cursed Seal Jutsu wasn't as proficient as Naruto's, it could bind Obito for a fraction of a second. To a ninja of Sasuke's caliber, that fraction of a second was fatal.
"Die!" A cold blade pierced his back.
"Crescent Moon: Dance of Control!"
Several flashes of cold light struck, plunging into Obito's body simultaneously.
Meanwhile, in the Konoha forest, Kushina had already bound Kurama tight with Adamantine Sealing Chains, while Minato began to perform the Sealing Jutsu. The two planned to split Kurama in half, sealing one half into the Fourth and the other into their baby. They had decided this after discussing it briefly.
"Don't you dare seal me inside that brat! Don't you dare lock me inside a human body again!?"
Perhaps because her body was too weak, the Adamantine Sealing Chains, which could normally suppress Kurama with ease, shattered. The great beast stretched his razor-sharp claws toward the infant Naruto. Minato and Kushina threw themselves in front of their child without hesitation, fully intending to take the fatal blow with their own bodies.
"Die all of you!" Just as the claws were about to touch them, Kurama felt his entire body stiffen. His tail felt as if it were being grabbed by something, and then an irresistible force yanked him from behind. Then Kurama saw a fist the size of a sandbag looming larger and larger. The fox's vision went black, and he knew nothing more.
'That night, I knocked Kurama out with a single punch.'
"W-who are you?" Minato and Kushina of this world widened their eyes, sheer disbelief written across their faces. That powerful Nine-Tails had actually been knocked down with a single punch by the person standing before them?
Naruto grabbed Kushina's hand and began channeling Yang Release chakra into her body. He also shared his own Ki with her.
Minato had plenty of doubts about this young man who had suddenly appeared, especially since he was holding his wife's hand. But seeing her face gradually regaining its color, he swallowed his questions.
Anyone with eyes could see Naruto was treating her severe injuries. And his face, the longer Minato looked at it, the more familiar it felt, though he couldn't place exactly why.
The treatment continued until Kushina's condition stabilized.
"You-" Minato started, but Naruto cut him off.
"You two, now isn't the time to talk." He pointed at Kurama, who lay slumped not far away. The giant beast rolled his eyes, stuck out his tongue, sported a dark bruise over his eye, and blew bubbles from his mouth. "What I've done can only preserve her life temporarily. The loss of life force is inevitable. If we don't seal that guy away quickly, it won't be long before she dies from the excessive drain."
When a Tailed Beast is extracted, it takes away not only the Jinchuriki's life force, it's like tearing a massive hole in the body. If a way isn't found to plug it, the host will eventually die. Unless someone possesses vitality as vigorous as Naruto's, able to heal quickly even with a gaping wound, or someone is willing to use a life-sacrificing Forbidden Jutsu for a one-for-one exchange, the best method after extraction is to seal the beast back inside.
Minato and Kushina exchanged a glance. Their original plan was to seal the Nine-Tails into their son's body, letting him live as a hero, the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki and Son of the Fourth Hokage. But that had been based on the scenario where Kushina was completely unable to reseal the beast.
"I feel that approach is inappropriate. Rather than you two making the choice for him and deciding the trajectory of his entire life, it would be better to wait until he grows up and let him choose for himself. What path to walk, what kind of person to become, as parents, it's best not to interfere too much."
Minato and Kushina exchanged another glance, both seeing shock in each other's eyes.
'How does he know what we're thinking?'
'Could it be mind reading?'
'Or perhaps...'
"I can't do that sort of thing. I just have some insight into people's hearts sometimes." Naruto shook his head, interrupting the couple's spiraling imagination.
With Naruto's help, the unconscious Kurama was quickly pulled back into Kushina's body. The closing of the Eight Trigrams Sealing Style signified the process had concluded successfully.
"There's no need to ask who I am, I won't answer that. As for what you choose to think, that has nothing to do with me."
Naruto hadn't made any effort to disguise himself. Although he wore an Akatsuki cloak, that face, an extreme resemblance to the Fourth Hokage in his youth, couldn't be hidden.
There was one matter Naruto had always buried deep in his heart.
He had once said he remembered everything that happened at his birth. Because he was a transmigrator. The exact point of his transmigration just happened to be the Night of the Nine-Tails Attack. Far too many things had happened on that night.
Although as a transmigrator he knew a great deal of intelligence that the natives didn't, he was, after all, just a mortal soul, not a god. There were things he couldn't accomplish even if he was familiar with the plot.
For example, when he had just been born, he encountered Kurama bearing down on him. He could only watch helplessly as his parents died miserably right in front of him for his sake. And he couldn't even stand up to stop it.
It was Kurama who killed Minato and Kushina. But if asked whether Naruto hated the beast, he didn't know how to answer.
It was true Kurama committed the act, but the root cause was Obito. Besides, even if Kurama hadn't killed them, Kushina wouldn't have lasted long in her condition back then, and Minato... he had acted more out of a wish to die alongside her. With his abilities, if he hadn't been willing, no one in the Shinobi World at the time could have killed him.
In truth, Kurama had regretted his actions long ago. An observant person would notice that Kurama's fingernails had once been incredibly long and sharp, sharp enough to serve as deadly weapons.
On the Night of the Nine-Tails Attack, a single claw had pierced clean through both Minato and Kushina. But as Naruto grew up, as their bond deepened, those claws wore down. They became shorter and blunter. Even though the tsundere fox never said a word, Naruto knew he was apologizing in his own way. Perhaps this was just Kurama's unique brand of gentleness.
The events of that night remained stuck in Naruto's heart like a thorn. Failing to save his parents was perhaps his only real regret.
Just like Sasori, even though the puppeteer was over thirty, his parents remained an old wound he couldn't heal.
If one couldn't think it through and obsessively dwelled on it, it was easy to fall into the Demonic Path. As a martial artist who trained Ki, the Evil Path was a very real threat, and not just that, but the Demon Clan as well. For instance, Tien Shinhan had nearly fallen into the Evil Path before meeting Master Roshi, and King Piccolo had openly called himself a member of the Demon Clan, which he created.
Even though he hadn't saved his own biological parents this time, doing so in this world still made up for that deep regret.
Naruto stopped paying attention to the thoughtful looks from Minato and Kushina, his gaze resting softly on the small figure lying on the Sealing Altar.
"I just hope that as he grows up, he can have a pair of parents who love him, and that he can live a healthy life."
"In the future, he will make many good friends. There will be Uchiha, Hyuga, and kids from all the great clans of Konoha."
"He won't be a picky eater, he'll eat plenty and grow up fast. He'll bathe on time every day, won't stay up late, and will get enough sleep. He'll study his schoolwork and ninjutsu hard, but everyone has things they're good at and things they aren't, so even if he struggles with his studies, he shouldn't get too discouraged."
"You will teach him, and you will always be by his side." Naruto stood there, rambling on and on to himself. "You can do all that, right? With your company, he should be able to grow up even better."
"Who are..." Kushina, still weak from just finishing the sealing, started to speak, but Minato placed a hand on her shoulder and shook his head gently. Minato turned around and looked at Naruto, flashing a bright, sunny smile.
"Of course. Then it's a promise."
This Minato had experienced more than the father from his own world had, for instance, this Minato had lived through the Ryumyaku Incident. Which Minato from his world didn't due to butterfly effect.
